The Goodness Project

Our Approach

A connected model for life-changing care.

We bring healthcare providers, funders, professionals and support networks together to help patients access surgery and receive compassionate support throughout their journey.

The Challenge

Growing demand is placing care further out of reach.

The growing demand for orthopaedic surgery continues to place significant pressure on public healthcare services, leaving many patients waiting months, and often years, for treatment.

These delays affect far more than physical movement. A patient may be unable to work, support a family, travel independently or participate fully in everyday life. Over time, prolonged discomfort and reduced mobility can also affect emotional wellbeing, confidence and hope for the future.

At the same time, valuable healthcare capacity, specialist knowledge, funding and community support exist across different sectors. The challenge is often not a complete absence of resources, but the need to connect those resources around patients in a practical and coordinated way.

Our role is to help close the gap between patients who need care and the partners capable of making that care possible.

Our Model

We Bridge. We Unlock. We Journey.

Our model is built around connection, access and patient support. We do not operate as an isolated service. We work across sectors to bring the right people, expertise, facilities and resources together around a shared healthcare need.

We Journey

We recognise that surgery is one part of a much longer human journey. Where possible, we support patients before, during and after treatment through coordinated pathways and compassionate care.

  • Referral and assessment pathways
  • Pre-surgery guidance
  • Volunteer support
  • Emotional encouragement
  • Recovery and follow-up support
  • Family and community connection

From initial need to recovery, every stage benefits from careful coordination and shared commitment.

How It Comes Together

Partnership turns available capacity into meaningful patient access.

The Goodness Project helps bring structure to collaboration. We work to identify where healthcare need, available capacity and potential funding can be aligned to support practical patient pathways.

This means each partner does not need to solve the full challenge alone. Instead, every organisation contributes its area of strength, while the collective partnership creates a more complete response.

Whole-Person Healing

Healing extends beyond surgery alone.

A successful procedure can restore movement, but the full patient journey also includes emotional, social and practical needs.

At The Goodness Project, we aim to see and support the whole person. This means recognising the impact that illness, pain, reduced mobility and long waiting periods can have on confidence, family life, employment and emotional wellbeing.

Where appropriate and available, patients may be connected with support pathways that provide encouragement, guidance, practical assistance and spiritual care. Support is always offered with respect for the patient’s personal beliefs, preferences and circumstances.

01

Physical Support

Supporting treatment, mobility, recovery and the practical path back to everyday life.

02

Emotional Support

Recognising the fear, uncertainty and emotional pressure that can accompany a long healthcare journey.

03

Social Support

Considering the patient’s family, work, independence and support environment.

04

Spiritual Support

Offering respectful spiritual care where requested and appropriate.
